What Academia Programs are provided to scholars at Academy of Dallas?

Parents and scholars, let us introduce the academia of integral educational, accelerated learning and challenging programs provided to our special education scholars at Academy of Dallas.  Every scholar has all opportunities to BE MOTIVATED, BE INSPIRED AND BE TRANSFORMED, into successful, independent, and empowering individuals with momentous futures. Our school provides an ACCELERATED program called CRIMSI Amplify, and Eureka provides fidelity, rigor and high expectations that transforms within the four content subjects Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies, along with a dose of healthy instruction in our Physical Education Department which are the requirements for all grade level scholars.

Eureka Math set a new standard for rigor, coherence, and focus on the classroom so scholars gain a deeper understanding of the why behind the numbers, all while making math more enjoyable to learn and teach.

Amplify Reading is our personalized learning program for grades K- 8 with captivating storylines to engage scholars in powerful reading instruction and practice. Whether scholars are learning to read fluently or sharpening close reading skills, Amplify Reading accelerates their growth while freeing educators up to work with small groups or individual scholars.

There are electives provided including:

• Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) program (6^th-8^th grade) which focus on developing an entrepreneurial mindset. NFTE is an entrepreneurial educational program integrated within AOD's core curriculum, gives our scholars a real-world experience-based learning environment. The learning methods include creating practical experiences of teamwork, problem-based learning, hands-on project-based work, and learning.

• Assistive Technology provides the tools and skills to use computer, iPads, laptops to navigate into the 21st Century. 

•  Accelerated Educational Instructional Software Programs help with learning, also challenges their critical thinking, analytical skills, and creativity mindsets of our scholars.

With the educational tools that are implemented in our scholars 8 hours daily schedule, general teachers and special education teachers evaluate the scholar’s performance and effectiveness in the classroom every six weeks. State and district testing are vital too. These formal testing invites joint teachers to view the strengths and needed areas of our scholars. Within these periods of our scholar’s academic classroom performance, student/teacher or parent/teacher conferences are scheduled to discuss and review the scholar’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). 

What is an Individual Education Plan (IEP)?

The IEP is the Academic Grail of the special education scholar’s plan that the ARD committee develops for general teachers follows throughout the year in the classroom. 

What does ARD mean?

It means Admission, Review, Dismissal (ARD). IEPs are not the only legal document developed in an ARD meeting by the ARD committee.  The purpose is to ensure that all scholars with disabilities are entitled to a free appropriate public education to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living.

Who are the ARD committee?

The ARD committee is composed of the Administration, Special Education Coordinator, Special Education Teacher, General Teacher, and related services such as School Dyslexia Teacher, Counselor, School-Based LSSP, Speech, Occupational, Physical Therapists to develop and determine the daily education instructional services.
