• Who Supervises Academy of Dallas Special Education Department?

Texas Education Agency (TEA) https://tea.texas.gov/academics/special-student-populations/special-education supervises Academy of Dallas Special Populations Programs.  TEA ensures that our school follows the process of providing our scholars with services within the Legal Framework.

The Legal Framework for the Child Centered Special Education Process is followed within all of Academy of Dallas Special Education Programs. The legal framework protects the scholar and their family’s right from discrimination of one’s individual disability. This legal system provides AOD with the foundation to understand and apply the principles of constitutional, administrative, and judicial law in our school settings. TEA have played an important role in the development of the educational system at both the federal and state levels. Child Find is a legal requirement that Local Education Agency (LEA) find all children who have disabilities and who may be entitled to special education services. Child Find covers every child from birth through age 21. The LEA must evaluate any child that it knows or suspects may have a disability. Also, another legal source that protect our scholars and families is IDEA.
